Name: Caitlyn Bramwell & Kailin DrakeBorn: 1776 Birthplace: England Year Turned: 1799 Turned Age: 23 Age: 229 Master: Zdenek You can learn much about Kailin Drake from reading the introduction to the novel. Her orginal name was Caitlyn Lyndale, born in 1776 to Squire Sabastien Lyndale and his wife Elizabeth Lyndale. First born out of three children. Her siblings where Leila Lyndale and the future heir to her father's estate, Michael Lyndale. Her human life consisted of no more then finding a husband, attending parties, and learning to be a proper, elegant woman. In the eyes of the adults anyway, but when they turned their eyes away, she was a tomboy. Riding horses like a man, fishing in the lake, and climbing trees. Her sister, Leila, was not as interested in the same things as she was, but came along never the less. The days spent together had reinforced their sisterly bond, and made them more then just siblings. Their carefree lives would not last. Even as a young girl, she never seemed happy. Her mother noticed from an early age that her oldest child never smiled. She stayed clear of others, and only those who pushed themselves into her life found her true inner beauty. Caitlyn was a plain girl, over shadowed by her younger sisters amazing beauty. Though it bothered her mother and father, she did not mind. She preferred the darkness and the quiet that came along with it. It was those reasons that her parents were startled that the young, handsome Nathaniel Bramwell came to ask for her hand. He was heir to his father's estate and the future duke. Caitlyn's father thought at first it was a joke, and made light of the whole situation. He told the boy that if he still felt the same way on his daughter's sixteenth birthday that they would be wed. Nothing changed. Nathaniel visited their estate everyday, after becoming friends with Michael. He would bring with him gifts for Caitlyn and Leila. Sweets, jewelry, and more. All which Kailin would give to servants or her sister. She tried desperately to push Nathaniel onto Leila. In her heart, she knew that Leila deserved to become a duchess, and live a life in luxury. Caitlyn would not appreciate such a life. But Nathaniel's love and loyalty could not be waivered. Leila's beauty did not enchant him like it had so many others. On her sixteenth birthday, she was still unaware of the deal made between her father and Nathaniel. Yet, she knew time was running out. On that day, Nathaniel brought over one of his best horses, and took Caitlyn on a ride that would last throughout the evening. Her memories of that day are the first of happiness, and the moment she realized that she did indeed love Nathaniel as much as he loved her. Nathaniel proposed to her that evening, but she declined his offer. Without telling him why, she went home to find her family waiting. They knew of Nathaniel's plans and expected them both to enter together. Only Caitlyn did with a frown and look of shock on her face. Though she had declined his proposal, they were still wed two days later. Making her, Duchess Caitlyn Bramwell. Her father demanded that she wed him, even though she had begged him to speak with Nathaniel and offer him Leila. She was told that Leila could have anyone that she wanted, and marrying up for Caitlyn would only happen once for her. The years past and Caitlyn became more depressed. Locking herself in her room for days without end. Nathaniel blamed himself for what his wife had become. Even though Caitlyn's mother assured him that she hadn't changed. He invited Leila to live with them and so she did until her own wedding day. Caitlyn became pregnant and the entire estate seemed to brighten. Even Caitlyn's heart awoke when she was told. She was a guest at every party, and her charm and beauty began to shine through. Nathaniel was told how lucky he was to have such a wife, and then it was all gone. Caitlyn fell very ill, her body was pained, and she gave birth to a still born. The tears flowed and then never stopped. Caitlyn spent her days crying over the grave of her lost child or laying in her bed. Nathaniel tried to comfort her, but her heart was broken. He thought that it would never be healed, and he did the best he could to keep her comfortable. Life became worse when Leila went missing. Some said that she had run away and others said that the Earl she had married had killed her. He was not a kind man, and had had his first wife suddenly disappear. After speaking with him, Caitlyn thought for sure he was a good man, but Leila's disappearence turned her against him. Then came the day of her rebirth. She was meeting with an assassin, who would rip the truth out of Leila's husband's dying breath. On her horse, she rode into the night to the meeting spot that the man had set. Her heart beat without fear. But all that was left of her assassin was a blood stain in the grass. A disfigured man offered her a note, which read "Come to Lord Zdenek’s manor to save your sister’s life, tell no one." She arrived at his home as she knew the man well enough. He was a regular at events and parties. She found her sister in the middle of the floor of his library, tied up. He allowed her to set Leila free, under the condition that she replace her. Caitlyn did so without hesitation. Once Leila was safely on her way home, Zdenek took what Caitlyn had never appreciated before... her life. . |
