Jareth and Lycorisa Born: 640 AD and 643 AD Birthplace: Ireland Year Turned: 661 AD Turned Age: 21 and 18 Age: 1365 and 1362 Master: Unknown Jareth belonged to a noble family who had a large farm and many slaves. Lycorisa was born three years after his birth, and soon become a playmate for the noble son. On Jareth's tenth birthday he was told that the young Lycorisa would be sent out to work in the fields. His father didn't approve of their friendship. After several days of arguing with his father, Jareth shut himself down. He refused to speak with anyone but Lycorisa. It took a year before his father gave in and let Lycorisa come back into the house. To be on the safe side, Jareth still refused to speak to anyone but Lycorisa. Nine years later, Jareth's father was tired of playing the game that his son had set before him. He knew that Jareth had fallen in love with the slave girl, and would not accept a marriage between them. He threatened Lycorisa's life if Jareth didn't marry a woman he had picked out for his son. Jareth agreed to the wedding, but several days before the marriage was to take place, his mother came to see him. She told Jareth about how she was in love with another man, and that she had been forced to marry his father. Her life had been long and miserable. Everyday she wished for the man that she truly loved. She had been told that she would learn to love her new husband, and had to some degree. In an effort to save her son from her fate, she gathered together as much money as she could, and gave it to Jareth. He ran away with Lycorisa. However, his mother overlooked an important insight. Lycorisa didn't love Jareth in return, she was set to wed another slave. Once she had been pulled away there was no turning back for Lycorisa. She felt that Jareth had kidnapped her. Hearing about his wedding to another woman had taken so much strain out of her life, even though she was still forced to be his friend. Now, that she had to live out the rest of her life running from his father, she was angry. Yet, there was no where else she could go, and so she stayed with Jareth. Unable to understand they didn't have any income, and that he couldn't live in the luxury he was use to, Jareth spent all their money in a matter of months. They were left poor, and had to take any jobs that came available to them. During a storm they found their way into what looked to be an abandon estate. Laying their heads down in seperate rooms, they fell asleep. The house was not abandon, and they were both awoken during the night by the owner of the home. He was neither angry or pleased that they had come into his home uninvited. The owner was a fresh vampire, confused about what he had become. He fed from both Lycorisa and Jareth that night, and unknowingly left them to live as vampires. |
