| Mephis |
Meaning of Mephistopheleans:
The devil in the Faust legend to whom Faust sold his soul.
The most evil of all vampires was the Mephistopheleans or the Mephis for short. These vampires are of pure evil. They were afraid of anything holy and of the sun. They are the strongest of all the vampires even more so then the Hallowed. They are immune to fire, stakes, and disemboweling. They were the hardest of all the vampires to destroy, in order to kill a Mephis, one had to remove their heads, hang the bodies upside down to drain all the blood, so the body would not go looking for it’s head and then bury the head some far distance from the body. It was a hard task to rid the world of these evil beasts, but each vampire made it their mission to destroy as many as possible.
The Mephis come in different varities. There are Alpha Mephis such as Anthony and Samuel, which can take the gruesome form of the Mephis or look very human, except for the large canines. Second, are Sups (pronounced soups), which spit a fluid like substance that catches fire when it hit oxygen, a powerful weapon against Halloweds. Depending on what the Alpha that created them wanted, some can change to a human form, and others cant. Thirdly, there are the minions. These types are the weakest, and dumbest, yet easiliest controled by the Alpha. They follow either an Alpha or a Sup, and will fight to the death or until their leader dies. They have no thoughts of their own. Their lives revolve around feeding and pleasing their leader. They can not take a human form.
Mephis can not go into sunlight, prolonged exposure can kill them. Most of the time it burns their flesh badly, and since Mephis have a slow healing ability, slower then that of a human, this injury can keep them from feeding for several years.
